Ella Duplessis, 3, of Manchester, puts a raffle ticket into a slot on a plastic candy cane Friday, Nov. 25, in the River of Trees display in downtown Augusta. The display is in the former Stacy's card and gift shop at 243 Water St. It ran through Sunday. The money from the sale of tickets was split, with 20 percent supporting the Colonial Theatre restoration project and the remainder going to the Augusta Downtown Alliance. Local businesses donated artificial trees lit with LED lights and nonglass ornaments along with $500 to $1,000 in retail gifts. The trees were decorated to appeal to children, families and adults and were available for the winning raffle ticket purchaser.
