Hallowell firefighter Roy Girard directs fellow volunteers Sunday while extinguishing a van that burned after sliding into a utility pole on Greenville Street in Hallowell. Multiple accidents were reported across central Maine as a light drizzle fell as temperatures remained in the low 30s. The operator of the van had departed by the time firefighters arrived, according to Captain Richard Clark.
