PORTLAND — Maine State Police, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and U.S. Marshal’s Service have combined forces to make more than 100 arrests on outstanding arrest warrants.
State Police assigned four troopers to locate the fugitives and additional troopers were utilized to make the arrests last month. Arrests took place in Oxford, Androscoggin, Cumberland and York counties on warrants generated from state and federal courts.
Police say many of the fugitives compounded their legal problems by failing to pay fines or failing to appear in court, leading to their arrests.
Noel March, the U.S. marshal in Maine, says it’s important to bring “scofflaws to justice to ensure the integrity of the judicial system.”
