BANGOR — A Bangor hospital is marking Earth Day by hosting its spring universal electronic waste drop-off.

Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Green Team’s Earth Day event is today. Employees are encouraged to stop by from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and drop off any unwanted televisions, computers, printers and monitors for recycling. E-Waste Recycling will park a trailer-truck in the Wing Parking Lot and take the unwanted items for free.

EMMC environmental health and safety officer Ray Johnson says VCRs and DVD players will also be recycled for free, but microwave ovens and light bulbs will not be accepted. Last April, EMMC employees recycled more than 9 tons of electronic waste.
