AUGUSTA — The Kennebec Historical Society presents “Men from Maine in the Civil War” by Authors Ned and Diane Smith. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Augusta City Center Learning Gallery, 16 Cony St. in Augusta.

Diane Smith is the author of “Fanny and Joshua: The Enigmatic Lives of Frances Caroline Adams and Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain,” which examines Joshua Chamberlain’s war years and the couple’s 50-year marriage. She also wrote “Chamberlain at Petersburg,” based largely on an unpublished first-person account by Joshua Chamberlain.

Ned Smith, a college instructor, provided the research for the maps that accompany the latter book. He also wrote “The 22nd Maine Volunteer Infantry in the Civil War.” Copies of the books will be available.
