Student arrested for gun threat

WATERVILLE — A student at the Mid-Maine Technical Center was arrested by police Wednesday for allegedly threatening to bring a gun to the school and hurt another student, police said.

Nathan Raynes, 18, of Winslow, was charged with terrorizing, a felony, after another student overheard the threat on Tuesday and reported it, according to police.

Todd Burbank, the school resource officer, responded to Raynes’ home on Augusta Road in Winslow on Wednesday morning and arrested him. Police said Raynes had access to guns, but there was no evidence he brought a gun to the technical center.

Raynes was released from the Waterville police station on unsecured bail and on several conditions, including that he not be at the technical center or have any contact with the alleged victim of the threat.

He is scheduled to appear in Kennebec County Superior Court in Augusta in June.
