WATERVILLE — The University of Maine at Farmington baseball team split a doubleheader with University of Maine at Presque Isle on Friday, winning 6-2 and losing 12-6.

In the opener, Ian McAlister pitched a three-hit complete game to earn the victory for the Beavers (2-15). He also had two singles to help his own cause.

Josh Garneau added three singles and two RBI’s for UMF as well.

Shane Smith had a two-run single to lead the Owls (4-19).

Ed Flaherty had a two-run single in the second game to pace the Beavers.

Castleton 13-15, Thomas 3-4: Matt Eisenhuth went a combined 5-for-7 with six RBIs and David Brandt drove in six runs as well to lead the Spartans to a doubleheader sweep in Castleton, Vt.

Castleton (13-15) had 22 hits in the two games.

Jeff Richardson went 4-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead the Terriers. Game 1 losing pitcher pitcher Cody Vigue went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored in the opener as well for the Terriers (9-18).

Softball

Trinity 6, Colby 0: Kristen Anderson struck out three and allowed just six hits to earn her eighth win of the season.

Katherine Stoltenberg, Abigail Ostrom, Katherine Poulos and Amelia Mostovoy each had two hits to pace Trinity (15-7) at Crafts Field.

Ostrom also drove in two runs.

Barbara Santos had two hits to lead Colby (5-11).
