KITTERY — A 3-year-old child was rescued from a pond and saved after being given CPR.

The Portsmouth Herald says emergency responders are calling Saturday’s event in a pond in Kittery, a “near drowning.”

Police and firefighters were called to an area off Norton Road at about 6 p.m. Saturday. The child was given cardio-pulmonary resuscitation to regain breathing and taken to a hospital.

A Kittery police dispatcher said today that no further information was immediately available.
