STAFF REPORT

Burnham and Late Models equaled victories on Saturday night at Unity Raceway: Brian Whitney of Burnham won the 75-lap Late Model race, and Justin Drake of Burnham took first in the 40-lap Late Model Pro Four race.

Whitney picked up his first career win at Unity on June 19 in the 100-lap Late Model feature. On Saturday, he held off East Madison’s Jeff Burgess early and Skowhegan’s David Folsom I late for the win. Burgess had problems late in the race and finished ninth, allowing Folsom to grab the unofficial points lead.

Drake got a break when Lance Chapman of Benton and Sean Johnson crashed while fighting for the lead. Benton was first on the re-start and easily took home the victory. Benton’s Alex Fernald finished second.

Nate Weston of Madison held off Brad Bellows of China Village to win the Super Street main event, and Ricky Burgess, Jr. was the easy winner in the Keystone Automotive Wildcat race.

Bruce Nickerson was also on his game, going wire-to-wire to win the Flyin’ 4 division race. It appeared Mike Mason had won the 20-lap Monsta Mini race, but when Mason was disqualified after a post-race inspection, the new winner was John Fortin of Vassalboro.

Detroit’s Ricky Pease claimed a dominant victory in the 15-lap Teen Thunder race, but there was an upset in the other 15-lap feature of the night: Skowhegan’s Chad Folsom, who had won every race in the Challenger division this season, had to settle for second place, with Mike Moore of Madison stealing the win.
