NEW GLOUCESTER — A merger being announced will establish a statewide alternative education network serving young Mainers who struggle in traditional school settings.

The merger of the Community School and Opportunity Farm will be announced today at the opportunity Farm in New Gloucester.

The new Community Schools at Opportunity Farm and Camden will provide opportunities for more than 60 students during the first year of operation.

Community School and the Opportunity Farm have 139 years combined experience helping troubled youths. Last year, 96 percent of students were offered employment immediately upon graduation, while 42 were accepted to their college of choice.
