It is heartbreaking to learn someone stole flowers from a family plot at the Veterans Cemetery off Civic Center Drive in Augusta recently.

What a selfish, uncaring act to steal off graves. While the thieves might feel joy and self-gratification that they got away with it, the theft leaves families in tears.

Just because someone likes the flowers does not give them the right to steal them.

I so wish our newspapers could print more letters sent in on the subject for it does matter and seems common practice.

Perhaps cemetery staff, police could be alert in removal of flowers.
