AUGUSTA — At least one person was injured Friday afternoon during a four-car crash on Western Avenue in Augusta that snarled the evening commute.

Rescue crews remained at the scene near Charlies Motor Mall at 4:45 p.m., said Augusta police Lt. Christopher Massey. Traffic is expected to be restricted as Maine State Police reconstruct the crash, Massey said.

Details were unavailable, but Massey said one person was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. The extent of the injuries is unknown.

A second ambulance was called to check on a pregnant woman, Massey said.
