MADISON — Madison Area Health Center, in conjunction with Redington-Fairview General Hospital, will offer a series of free educational programs on a wide array of topics in the coming year. All classes will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Madison Area Health Center, 8 South Main St. To register, call the health center at 696-3992. The classes are:

* Nutrition and Heart Health, led by Diane Thibodeau, DTR-LCT, RFGH Dietetic Technician, Thursday, Aug. 4. Learn the basic elements of a fundamentally nutritious diet and easy ways to get healthier eating habits.

*Making Health Changes, Thursday, Oct. 6. Self-assessment, motivation, confidence, goal setting, overcoming barriers. Led by Jim Fortunato, RFGH Community Health Educator.

* Tobacco, Thursday, Dec. 1. Learn about the dangers of smoking and get the tools to create a plan to quit. Led by Jim Fortunato, TTS-C, RFGH Tobacco Treatment Specialist.

The health center is a practice of HealthReach Community Health Centers (HRCHC), a system of eleven federally qualified health centers in Central and Western Maine. Dedicated providers deliver high quality health care to citizens in over 80 rural communities.
