AUGUSTA — Firefighters quickly extinguished back-to-back fires in two locations Monday afternoon.
Battalion Chief David Groder of the Augusta Fire Department said firefighters were called to Riverside Drive around 1 p.m., for a report of a brush fire. The fire never threatened a structure, Groder said.
Just as firefighters finished snuffing out that fire they were called to 234 Northern Ave., for smoke coming from a wall inside a four unit apartment building. Groder said there was minor damaged caused by the electrical fire and crews ripping into the wall to douse the flames with water.
Power was shut off to the building until an electrician can fix the electrical malfunction.
