HALLOWELL — The city’s Tax Increment Finance Review Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall to discuss a 100 percent, 20-year request from Peter Prescott, the owner of the Kennebec Ice Arena.

City Manager Michael Starn said the City Council decided last week to discuss at their August meeting whatever recommendation the three-person committee makes on the tax break.

BELGRADE — Selectmen are hosting a seasonal residents’ meeting on Aug. 3.

This is an opportunity for seasonal residents to meet with town officials, ask questions or express concerns about issues.

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center for All Seasons.

Washington 5K run

WASHINGTON — The Washington 5K run and 1-mile fun run is being held Aug. 6 in conjunction with the town’s bicentennial.

The races start at 8 a.m., with registration starting at 7 a.m. at Prescott Memorial School on Route 220.

The 5K race starts at Prescott Memorial School and goes through the village of Washington, up Bill Luce Road and back.

The fun run starts at Prescott Memorial School and goes down to the village around the monument and back to the school.

Trophies will be given to winners in all age categories in the 5K and to the first three finishers in the fun run.

The entry fee of $15 — $30 maximum per family — includes a T-shirt and commemorative bicentennial button.

The bicentennial parade begins at 10 a.m.

A portion of the proceeds from the race will go to benefit the Washington Community Scholarship Fund.
