AUGUSTA — Jason Burns hit a two-run homer with two out in the bottom of the ninth inning as Augusta defeated Bangor, 11-9, in American Legion Baseball state tournament action Friday afternoon.

With the win, Augusta secured a spot in Sunday’s championship game. Augusta will play Brewer at 3:30 p.m., today, while Bangor will play Gayton Post in an elimination game at 11 a.m.

With the scored tied at 9-9 and two out in the Augusta ninth, Erik Ogren singled with two out. Burns then jacked a 2-2 pitch well over the right-field fence for the game-winner.

Ryan Minoty, who threw six innings and 110 pitches on Wednesday, threw four hitless innings of relief to get the win for Augusta.
