A few thousand Central Maine Power customers were briefly left without power Friday during an outage that impacted three communities.

CMP Spokeswoman Gail Rice said the outage impacted 3,140 customers in the the towns of Farmingdale, Gardiner and Hallowell.

The power went out around 2:35 p.m., and was restored about 50 minutes later.

Rice said she believes the outage was caused by a tree limb which came in contact with a transmission line.
