AUGUSTA — Allegations of burglary and theft make up the bulk of the charges contained in indictments handed up Thursday in Kennebec County Superior Court.

An indictment is not a determination of guilt, but is an indication that sufficient evidence is present to proceed with formal charges and a trial in superior court.

Those indicted include a pair of Randolph men who each face 20 charges related to break-ins and thefts of copper, scrap metal and related items; and an additional count each of violating conditions of release for allegedly committing some of those crimes while they were out on bail.

Joel Dennis Lachance, 42, and James E. Roderick, 24, are each charged with seven counts of burglary, 10 counts of theft by unauthorized taking, three counts of aggravated criminal mischief.

Among the victims listed in the charges are the town of Chelsea, the Hallowell Water District and various construction sites, as well as at a business and private homes.

According to the indictments, the offenses occurred in Chelsea, Farmingdale, Randolph, Sidney and Waterville between Jan. 26 and June 12.

Two other men, Alan S. Goldhammer, 23, of Vassalboro, and Christopher E. Williams, 20, of Augusta, are each charged with three counts of burglary and six counts of theft by unauthorized taking between May 1 and May 28, all in Vassalboro.

They are accused of stealing scrap metal, wood stoves, radiators and electrical items belonging to private owners and an Augusta pawn shop and another excavating business.

* Billy Joe Bragg, 45, of Winslow, domestic violence assault and aggravated assault June 26 in Waterville.

* George F. Browning Jr., 56, of Augusta, escape Oct. 18, 2006, in Hallowell. He was indicted for the same offense in March 2009; the 2009 indictment was dismissed while he was serving a sentence in Arizona.

* Johnathan N. Caswell, 26, of Randolph, operating after revocation March 15, in Gardiner.

* Vanessa Cayford, 35, of Waterville, theft by unauthorized taking Nov. 10, in Waterville.

* Timothy W. Clark, 41, of Augusta, unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs Oct. 19.

* Phillip Clarence Cormier II, 27, of South Portland, unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs March 22, 2010, in Augusta.

* Pamela D’Andrea, 51, of Auburn, burglary and theft by unauthorized taking Sept. 2, in Rome.

* Craig C. Dorr, 38, of Augusta, criminal threatening, aggravated criminal trespass and assault Aug. 17, in Augusta.

* Heath A. Dupont, of West Gardiner, burglary and attempted theft June 5, 2010, in West Gardiner.

* Bradley W. Field, 23, of Litchfield, three counts each of burglary and theft and one count each of criminal mischief and violation of condition of release, all between Oct. 31 and July 5, in Litchfield.

* Charity R. Hopper, 21, of Vassalboro, burglary and theft Aug. 24, 2010, in Augusta.

* Brian C. Jones, 42, of Palermo, criminal operating under the influence, operating beyond license condition or restriction and leaving the scene of an accident, all March 10, in Waterville.

* Adrian D. Moss, 34, of Waterville, two counts each of burglary and theft, all on Aug. 23, 2010, in Gardiner.

* Peter J. Ouellette, 40, of Waterville, two counts each of terrorizing and criminal mischief and one count each of criminal threatening and criminal restraint, all June 16 in Waterville.

* Vaughn S. Orchard, 50, of Norridgewock, unlawful sexual contact between April 28, 2010, and April 28, 2011, in Waterville.

* Wayne M. Thompson, 47, of Augusta, two counts of criminal threatening and one count each of domestic violence assault, domestic violence terrorizing, and assault, all May 28 in Augusta.

* Melissa J. Winchenbach, 29, of Waterville, burglary and theft Nov. 24, in Waterville.

* Wyatt D. Wilson, 34, of Augusta, burglary, theft by unauthorized taking and criminal mischief, all June 6 in Augusta.
