Young folks (in this letter it’s the article about the Girl Scouts on Sept. 23 that moves me) have the drive to achieve success, and the completion of Augusta’s new dog place deserves praise.

But young folks also need the guidance of mature adults who usually lead our inexperienced youth to understand the rules, regulations and guiding policies of the groups they have joined. Without the wisdom learned by our elders, the energies that arise within two or three young folks can build into the revolutions that topple centuries of worthy cultural knowledge and development.

The Girl Scouts should not be blinded by their success to the fact that their Girl Scout leaders failed them. The leaders should have worked with the girls to get Scout policy changed or fully and completely obeyed.

Sen. Roger Katz’s warm affirmation bypassed the reality of Girl Scout policies. I urge them to continue their quest to serve onward and upward. Peace.
