AUGUSTA — Sandra Wright of Mount Vernon has been named recipient of the 2011 Natural Resources Council of Maine Environmental Award.
The award, given each year to an individual or group whose actions have made a difference at the local, regional, or state level in the protection of Maine’s environment, was presented at the NRCM’s annual meeting.
In addition to taking action against proposed environmental rollbacks, Wright kept herself and her community informed of every piece of proposed legislation, according to a news release. Her work was acknowledged by Sen. George Mitchell, keynote speaker at the event.
