WATERVILLE — Global Family Literacy will be presented by Dr. Jane Hale, associate professor of French and comparative literature at Brandeis University. The event is set for 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the Waterville Public Library, 73 Elm St., fourth floor reading room.

Cost is $10 for lunch by Jorgensen’s Cafe.

Registration is required whether or not participants are buying lunch by 11 a.m. Wednesday. Indicate lunch choice of: curried chicken salad on croissant, turkey BLT on plain wrap, veggie on garlic/herb wrap, or no lunch.

Hale will present her literacy projects to develop and distribute picture books for young children to homes in Lesotho, Boston and Haiti. She will speak particularly about the need for children to see themselves and hear their family language in early reading experiences.
