AUBURN — A former Bates College student has been sent to jail while three others were ordered to perform community service for their roles in an alcohol-fueled disturbance in May 2010 that ended with 11 arrests and a police officer with a broken leg.
Samuel Guilford pleaded guilty Tuesday to refusing to submit to arrest and failure to disperse and was sentenced to concurrent 14-day sentences.
The Sun Journal reports he also pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer. He will be allowed to withdraw the plea in two years if he stays out of trouble.
Guilford and three others were sentenced to 200 hours of community service. Seven other cases have been resolved.
The disturbance began when students refused to get out of the way of an ambulance responding to an emergency at the Lewiston school.
