CASTLETON, Vt. — Dominic Heller scored the game-winning goal on a header with just under 10 minutes to play to lift Castleton State to a 2-1 win over the University of Maine at Farmington in the North Atlantic Conference men’s soccer semifinals.

The Beavers finished their season at 9-8-0. Castleton (11-5-2) advances to play Husson in the NAC championship game Saturday. Husson beat Maine Maritime Academy 4-0 in the other semifinal

Heller’s goal came off a Trevor Kotrady corner kick with 9 minutes, 5 seconds left in the game.

UMF took a 1-0 lead at the 17:01 mark of the first half, when Luiz Ristow fought through the defense and put the ball past Spartan goalie Nate Koenemann.

Castleton tied the game in the 31st minute when Jacob Ferry fired a rebound past UMF goalie Derek Reilly.

Reilly made eight saves for the Beavers. Koenemann stopped five shots for Castleton, including a save on a Ristow shot in the 69th minute that would have given the Beavers the lead.

Women’s basketball

UM-Augusta 66, Fisher 51: In Portland, Jenn Lola scored 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Moose to the Yankee Small College Conference win in their season opener.

Katie Poirier added 17 points and 14 rebounds while Kristi Cessa scored 10 points and Ashley Peaslee added eight points and seven assists.

Fisher led 30-21 at the half.

Men’s basketball

Fisher 81, UM-Augusta 49: Dennis Norford scored 18 points as Fisher beat UMA in Portland.
Elijah Chisholm added 16 points for Fisher.

Wily Walter scored 15 points for UMA.
