Although it seems like a small thing, given all the concerns of the day, and while I support doing small and large acts of kindness, I encourage my fellow Waterville drivers — think twice before you do something nice!
How often have I seen in Waterville, cars stopping for pedestrians who want to cross the street, but who are not in a crosswalk.
Yikes!
I wouldn’t ever have thought about writing about this, but I have seen so many people come close to injury because one car stops for a pedestrian — not in a crosswalk — and another doesn’t.
So keep those acts of kindness coming but think and look twice before you slow down and stop for pedestrians who want to cross when they are not in the crosswalk.
