PORTLAND — Erskine Academy graduate Josh Jones, who was drafted in the third round of the NBA Development League draft Thursday night, was traded to the Maine Red Claws this afternoon.

Jones, a Husson University standout, was acquired from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in exchange for the Red Claws third-round pick, Charles Okwandu of the University of Connecticut.

Jones participated in the Red Claws open tryout before signing an NBA D-League contract and entering the 2011 draft. He helped Husson to a 21-7 record last season and a berth NCAA Division III tournament.

A native of Jefferson, Jones averaged 19.2 points and 11.4 rebounds for Husson last sason. He was named the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year.
