AUGUSTA — A 26-year-old Sidney man was sentenced Monday to 364 days in jail, with all but 120 days suspended, and a year’s probation after he pleaded guilty to possession of sexually explicit materials.

Zachariah R. Tondreau pleaded guilty in Kennebec County Superior Court to the misdemeanor charge.

According to the complaint, Tondreau “did intentionally or knowingly transport, exhibit, purchase or possess,” the items between March 11 and April 12.

He had been indicted earlier in May on a felony charge of possession of sexually explicit materials of minors under age 12. That charge was dismissed in exchange for the plea.

The misdemeanor charge indicates the minors were under age 16.

Conditions of probation ban Tondreau from using electronic equipment with Internet access. He is also banned from contact with girls under 16 unless an adult supervisor is present, and he was ordered to register as a 10-year registrant under the state’s Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.

The attorneys told the judge that Tondreau had no prior criminal record.
