HALLOWELL — Charlotte Eastman was honored today at the Gaslight Theater for writing her autobiography “Remembrance, The Story of Your Life’s Journey.”

She’s attended a play at the theater and then was taken out to dinner by the Augusta Red Hat Society, Ruby’s Cuties. Eastman, who lives in Vassalboro, has belonged to Ruby’s Cuties since 2003.

“She just finished writing her life story,” said Chris Slocum, vice queen of Ruby’s Cuties. “She’s not going to publish it. It’s for her family, but she shared it with us and we thought it was wonderful. She actually took a writing class at the Senior College at UMA to do this.”

Slocum said Eastman volunteers at the Vassalboro food pantry and plays Scrabble in German.

Eastman said she has worked as an accountant, bookkeeper, and secretary for various companies during her life. She also was a Kennebec Journal correspondent in the 1950s.

She has three daughters, non of which are married.

“I did it for my children,” Eastman said of her biography.
