Edie Smith, director of information and education for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, is scheduled to be the speaker at the Winthrop Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast meeting on Thursday. Smith will speak about the relationship between DIF&W, the hunting and fishing industries, and the economy.

“Many people are surprised to learn about the tremendous impact outdoor recreation has on Maine’s economy,” said Smith, a Winthrop native. “I look forward sharing this information with Chamber members and guests.”

The meeting will be held at the Winthrop Area Federal Credit Union (intersection of U.S. Route 202 and Highland Avenue). The cost is $5. A light breakfast will be provided beginning at 7:15 a.m. The meeting will start at 7:30 a.m. and end promptly at 8:30 a.m. The meeting is open to the public. No reservations are required.
