AUGUSTA — A city man was taken to the hospital Wednesday after falling out of the third-floor window of his apartment building.

The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. Details of his injuries were not available.

Augusta Fire Department Battalion Chief David Groder said the man fell about 25 feet from the window at 8 Cedar Court. Police received reports of the fall about 3 p.m.

“He wasn’t able to converse with us to tell us what happened,” Groder said.

Police are investigating what led to the fall, said Augusta Police Lt. Christopher Massey. Police declined to release the victim’s name, citing the ongoing investigation.

Rescue workers initially called for a LifeFlight helicopter to take him to an out of town hospital, but he refused the assistance and instead asked to be taken to MaineGeneral, Groder said.
