MANCHESTER — Gabriel Giguere and Cameron Guild, members of Boy Scout Troop 622 of Manchester, were recently awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

Giguere is the son of Paul Giguere and Francie Philbrook and Guild is the son of Don and Suzanne Guild, all of Manchester.

Giguere and Guild began Scouting in 2001 as Cub Scouts. As members of Troop 622, their activities have included several trips to the summit of Mount Katahdin, two multi-day canoe trips in northern Maine, and numerous community service projects. Both are members of the Order of the Arrow.

For his Eagle service project, Giguere restored a section of eroded multi-use trail near Shed Pond in Manchester. This involved working with a forester and the landowner, along with organizing a group of volunteers, including a local contractor who donated materials and equipment.

For his Eagle service project, Guild built a wheelchair ramp for the main lodge building at Camp KV in Readfield.The project involved designing the ramp, fundraising, procuring materials, removing the existing steps and constructing the ramp.

Following graduation from Maranacook High School both plan to go to college.
