Josie Lee scored 13 points, including six in the final two minutes, to lead Cony to a 53-41 win over Brunswick in the season opener for both teams Friday night. The Rams led by as many as 20 points in the second half, before the Dragons cut the lead to three (42-39) with just over five minutes left.
Cony closed the game with an 11-2 run on four layups and three free throws. Melanie Guzman added 11 points and 12 rebounds for Cony while teammates Mia Diplock and Emily Sanford each scored 10. Lyse Henshaw led Brunswick with 12 points while Liz Faulkner scored 10.
