BRUNSWICK — The Bowdoin College ice-hockey teams are inviting the public to “Skate With the Polar Bears” in a food drive.
Admission to Sunday’s open skate at the college’s Brunswick campus is one non-perishable food item or paper product, which will be donated to the local food bank.
Men’s ice hockey head coach Terry Meagher says the holiday season is when food banks need help the most, as demands of the season reduce supplies.
Women’s head coach Marissa O’Neil says the event goes back years.
The free skate is open to all ages, and children are asked to bring a protective helmet.
