WINTHROP — An Augusta man was arrested today in connection with last week’s robbery of a Rite Aid pharmacy on Peck Farm Road, police said.

Anthony Mabe, 18, was arrested late this morning by Winthrop police on Eastern Avenue in Augusta, according to a news release from police. Augusta police assisted in the arrest.

Winthrop police were said they identified Mabe as the robbery suspect after investigating a tip from the public.

Police said the investigation into the robbery is ongoing.

Mabe is being held at the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta on $1,000 cash bail.

The Rite Aid, at 16 Peck Farm Road, was robbed on Dec. 7 about 5:30 p.m. Police have previously said that the robber threatened the use of — but did not actually display — a weapon.

Police said the robber left the store with an undisclosed amount of drugs, likely fleeing on foot before getting into a vehicle.
