WATERVILLE — The Family Caregiver Support Program at Spectrum Generations announces the Savvy Caregiver Program is coming to Waterville.

Two sessions will be offered at Spectrum Generations Muskie Center, 38 Gold St. The training sessions will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Mondays, Jan. 23-March 5. The second session will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Mondays, March 19-April 26. There is no cost to attend.

This six-week training session is designed with family caregivers of people with cognitive losses in mind. Each session includes training, activities and discussion. Caregivers are given reading and practice assignments to complete.

Participants can gain the attitude, skills and knowledge that are necessary to keep a person with dementia content and involved in their life at home. They can develop a greater understanding of the disease and its effects on the individual, consider the importance of self care and begin developing a more objective approach to caregiving.
