AUBURN — Hall-Dale turned up its defensive pressure in the third quarter and pulled away from St. Dominic for a 45-30 win in Mountain Valley Conference girls basketball action Monday night.

Carylanne Wolfington led the Bulldogs with 18 points, six rebounds and nine steals while Wendy Goldman added 17 points and Allison Crockett 11 rebounds. Mackenzie Roy led the Saints with 10 points.

“They zoned us up and we didn’t shoot well in the first half,” Hall-Dale coach Brandon Terrill said. “We outscored them 13-2 in the third quarter. We pressed them quite a bit.”

Hall-Dale is 2-0 while St. Dom’s falls to 0-2.

Kents Hill 36, Hyde 25: Heather Larrabee had 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the host Huskies to the win. Emma Curnin added 10 points and 16 rebounds for Kents Hill (1-0).

Hyde (0-1) was led by Kathryn Comeaux with 12 points.

Monmouth 50, Winthrop 20: Kylie Kemp scored 15 points as the Mustangs beat the Ramblers in an MVC game in Winthrop.

Kristine Kahl added 14 points for Monmouth (2-0).

Cat Ouellette had five points for Winthrop (0-2).

Boys basketball

Monmoth 46, Winthrop 43: Brandon Goff scored 21 points to lead the Mustangs to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Winthrop.

Monmouth led the entire second half. Tyler Foster led Winthrop with 12 points and eight rebounds while Hunter Kilgore added 10 points and five steals and Taylor Morang chipped in with 10 points.

Monmouth is 2-0, Winthrop is 0-2.
