LEWISTON — Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Barbara Walsh of Winthrop will teach one of two spring semester creative writing courses offered at the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College.

Walsh will collaborate with the college’s Writing Center Director Patricia Hager to present the digital storytelling class Telling Stories That Matter: An Introduction to Digital Storytelling and Creative Writing, a sampling of fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry and blogging.

Hager, a freelance newspaper journalist in Philadelphia and New Jersey for 15 years, has been teaching writing at the college level for more than 30 years.

Walsh has worked for newspapers and magazines in Florida, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Ireland. She is author of “Sammy in the Sky” and “August Gale: A Father and Daughter’s Journey into the Storm,” an adult biography and memoir.

The first class will take place 9:30-11:30 a.m. Jan. 18. Class ends the week of May 11. Sign up deadline is Jan. 18.
