I was reading the November 1889 “Winthrop Budget” newspaper and came across a Hannaford drug store ad for a national puzzle for Republicans, Democrats, and mugwumps.
Now, I don’t know what a mugwump is, but it sounds like a party we might consider in the next election.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what a mugwump is? I may want to become one.
