AUGUSTA — Melissa Garand, an eighth grade student at St. Michael School, won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee. Garand will take a written exam to qualify for the State Geography Bee.

Eighth grade students Liam Thompson was the runner-up and Luke Arsenault placed third. Ninety five students participated.
