FREEPORT — The Community Spay-Neuter Clinic, Route 1, will spay female cats for low-income Maine residents through its Beat the Heat program throughout the month of February.

Spaying is safe for kittens as young as 8-10 weeks old and spaying a female cat before her first heat cycle is recommended, according to a news release. The cost is $20, which includes a rabies vaccination.
