BINGHAM — The official cause of death of a man found dead in a driveway on Baker Street on Sunday will likely not be known for awhile.

A spokeswoman at the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said Tuesday that determining the cause of Ernest Sayers’ death will take further testing, which will likely take weeks.

Sayers, 61, of Haverhill, Mass., was walking from a card game at a Main Street house to his girlfriend’s house less than a half mile away on Baker Street, when he apparently died, leaving a trail of blood drops behind him.

When a neighbor found the body Sunday morning, Sayers was lying face down on an icy driveway four houses away from his destination. Sayers’ coat was a couple hundred feet away.

Steve McCausland, a spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said there is no indication of foul play.
