WALDOBORO — Alanna Vose shot 17 of 20 from the free-throw line and finished with 29 points to lead seventh-seeded Medomak Valley to a 46-30 victory against 10th-ranked Winslow in an Eastern Class B preliminary game Tuesday night.

Medomak Valley (13-6) led 27-19 after three quarters and shot 15 of 15 from the line to pull away in the fourth.

Elizabeth Ferry scored eight points to lead Winslow (10-9).

No. 5 Mt. Desert Island 51, No. 12 Waterville 33: Hannah Shaw scored 16 points to lead the Trojans to the win in Bar Harbor.

Sarah Phelps added seven points for MDI (15-4), while will play No. 4 Gardiner in the regional quarterfinals. Colleen O’Donnell led Waterville (9-10) with 10 points.

Class D West

No. 9 Buckfield 24, No. 8 Valley 23: Kaitlyn Rines scored 11 points, leading the Bucks to the Class D West preliminary round win in Bingham.

Buckfield (5-14), will face No. 1 Richmond (16-1) in the regional quarterfinals on Tuesday at the Augusta Civic Center. Valley ended the season 5-14.

Valley held Buckfield scoreless in the second quarter to take a 13-8 halftime lead, but the Bucks held the Cavaliers to 10 points in the second half.

Hali McQuilkin led Valley with 12 points.

Women’s basketball

Maine Maritime 80, Thomas 47: Sam Goda scored 20 points to lead the Mariners to the North Atlantic Conference win in Waterville.

Casey McCloskey added 15 points for MMA. Karin Bird led Thomas with 14 points.

Men’s basketball

Colby 77, UMaine-Presque Isle 67: Kyle Donovan scored 15 points to lead Colby to the win in Waterville.

Ben Foreman scored 14 points for Colby (7-17), while Alex Swanson added 13.

Patrick Manifold led UMPI (3-16) with 28 points.

 

Thomas 98, Maine Maritime 59: Franklin Salvador scored 26 points to lead the Terriers past the Mariners in North Atlantic Conference action in Waterville. Rob Nutter added 13 points for Thomas (13-10, 10-7) while Andy Ball led Maine Maritime with 19 points.
