MARS HILL — The Maranacook Community High School boys team won the Class B Apline title, while Mt. Abram’s Elise Luce captured her second state title, on Wednesday.

Luce won the slalom title Wednesday and the giant slalom title on Tuesday.

The Maranacook boys scored 21 points in the slalom, with four skiers finishing in the top 11 positions. Sophomore Alec Daigle won the race with at two-run combined time of 1 minutes, 18.16 seconds, followed by teammate Matt Delmar at 1:18.24.

“Out of the two Alpine events, this is the one the boys feel confident in and they dialed it in,” Maranacook Alpine coach Ronn Gifford said. “We have five sophomores and one senior. It has been exciting to see the group mature, supporting each other and getting better and better.”

Also for Maranacook: Kelby Mace finished seventh; Tobias Smith 11th; Alex Tooth 19th and Louis Chiapette 25th.

“As a group they have been skiing together for a long time,” Gifford said. “Everyone of them skied great today.”

Maranacook scored 62 points in the two day Alpine competition to beat Yarmouth, which finished second with 80.

MCI’s Gary Kersbergen finished eighth in the slalom, while Mt. Abram’s Patrick Banahan was 16th.

For the second straight day, Elise Luce edged out her sister Erin to claim the title. Elise finished the slalom course in 1:25.94 while Erin’s combined time was 1:27.89. Jane Ouillette, of Belfast, was third in 1:34.34.

“It was really nice to win both races,” Elise said. “I had a little bobble on my second run but recovered quickly. Today, you really had to ski because of how open the course was.”

Camden Hills won the girls Alpine title, beating Yarmouth 65-74. Camden Hills placed four skiers in the top 10 to win the title. Sasha Jones paved the way for the Windjammers with a fourth place.

Mt. Abram’s Emily Listowich finished 13th, while Maranacook’s Maddalena Chiappetta was 19th.

Class C state championships

GREENWOOD — Freeport came from behind on the final day to win the overall Class C girls ski championship, while Fort Kent won the boys title.

Freeport girls edged Fort Kent, 153-161 after taking a 25-35 win in the slalom race on the last day of competition. The Fort Kent boys outscored Freeport, 260-309.

Elly Bengtsson of Freeport won the girls slalom race in 1:14.03, while Nate Nichols of Mountain Valley captured the boys slalom race in 1:15.51.

Winthrop’s Olivia Tsouprake finished ninth in the girls competition and Monmouth Academy’s Rebekkah Bryant placed 18th.

Fort Kent’s Roxanne Pelletier won the girls Skimeister championship, while Mountain Valley’s Nicholas Woods captured the boys Skimeister title.
