FAIRFIELD — Republican John Picchiotti, 68, is running for re-election in State House District 84, representing Fairfield, Rome and Smithfield.

He is chairman of the board of KSW Federal Credit Union and is on several Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce committees, according to an announcement about his candidacy.

He also represents Fairfield on the board of FirstPark, the business and technology park subsidized by area communities.

Picchiotti has served on the Fairfield-based SAD 49 School Board, the Fairfield Land Use Board of Appeals, the Fairfield Planning Board, the Fairfield Budget Committee and the Fairfield Economic Development Committee.

His business experience includes former ownership of a women’s clothing store in Waterville and work as an insurance agent and an advertising representative for the Morning Sentinel.

He is a Navy veteran.

He and his wife, Carol, have three children and five grandchildren.
