PATTEN — Maine authorities are investigating the death of a 7-month-old girl in her Patten home but do not suspect foul play.

The infant was found unresponsive by her parents at about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police tell the Bangor Daily News that although foul play is not suspected, all deaths of children under age 3 are investigated as a matter of routine.

An autopsy is scheduled.

Neither the name of the girl nor her parents are being made public.

Police say the parents are distraught.
