Gov. Paul LePage signed legislation this week allowing two bridges in Harmony to be renamed in memory of domestic homicide victims.
A bridge on Route 150 will be renamed the Amy, Coty and Monica Bridge in memory of schoolteacher Amy Bagley Lake, 38, and her children Monica, 12, and Coty, 13. The three were killed last year in Dexter by Bagley Lake’s estranged husband, Steven Lake, who also killed himself.
A bridge on Route 154 will be renamed the Remember Me Bridge in memory of all victims of domestic violence.
Amy Lake and her children traveled that road from Harmony, where Amy grew up, to Dexter, where she was a school teacher, so they would not have to drive by her estranged husband’s business on Route 150, according to Sandra Mitchell of Harmony, who has spearheaded the bridge-naming campaign.
