WATERVILLE — Jonathan Michaeles has been named head football coach at Colby College.

The NCAA Division III school launched a national search that drew more than 100 candidates, but stayed close to home, selecting Michaeles, who’s been an assistant at the school for the past eight years.

In that time he’s been offensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator, academic advisor, and strength and conditioning director.

Michaeles is a Sturbridge, Mass. native and 1992 graduate of Bates College, where he played wide receiver.

He says he sees the job as a chance to carry on the school’s proud tradition. The school is coming off a 3-5 season.
