Colby was not one of the 64 teams selected to participate in this year’s NCAA Division III women’s basketball tournament.

The Mules were expecting a bid, based on their 19-7 overall record, and because the NCAA typically takes four teams from the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Amherst, Bowdoin and Tufts were selected from the NESCAC.

Colbylost to Amherst, ranked No. 1 in the nation in both polls, in the NESCAC semifinals. Amherst is 27-0, and its toughest game this season was against Colby, a 51-50 victory in Waterville.

In addition to Bowdoin, the University of New England and the University of Southern Maine were selected among Maine teams. All three own victories over Colby this season.
