SKOWHEGAN — The Greater Somerset Public Health Collaborative and Redington-Fairview General Hospital recently received a Let’s Go! grant from The Kids CO-OP at the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center.

The hospital hired Ben Hodgdon to deliver the 5 2 1 0 Let’s Go! message on nutrition and exercise out to Somerset County parents and children. He will promote the program’s rules for healthy living: five servings of fruit and vegetables a day, two hours or less of screen time (TV, computers, hand-held devices), one hour or more of physical activity, and no sugary drinks.

Hodgdon grew up in Smithfield and attended Skowhegan Area High School. He is a recent graduate of University of Maine Farmington’s Community Health Education Program.

The program uses a multi-sector approach to reach youth and families where they live, study, work and play to reinforce the importance of healthy eating and active living.

For more information, call Hodgdon at 474-7473, ext. 203, or email bhodgdon@rfgh.net.
