AUGUSTA — The Daughters of the American Revolution has announced the winners of its American History Essay Contest
The sixth grade winner was Katherine McKee from Hall-Dale Middle School, sponsored by the Mary Kelton Dummer/Patience Stanley Chapter of Hallowell. Katherine will receive her award at commencement.
Winning students from St. Michael School, sponsored by the Koussinoc Chapter of Augusta, were William Green, sixth grade; Andrew Caron, seventh grade; and John Parent, eighth grade.
These students and their families and teachers have been invited to the Student Awards Meeting on April 9 at the Fort Western Learning Gallery at City Center. Students will read their essays and receive their awards.
This year’s topic was Young America Takes a Stand: The War of 1812.
