SKOWHEGAN — The 81st annual Maine Drama Festival schedule held at Skowhegan Area High School was recently announced. The following plays will be performed in Skowhegan for the regional competition.

Friday, March 9, starting at 6:30 p.m.: “Oddball” by Central High School; “Much Ado About Nothing” by Erskine Academy; and “The Ugly Duckling” by Lawrence High School.

Saturday, March 10, starting at 1 p.m.: “The Queen of TE” by Winthrop High School; “Let’s Not Speak of Such Things” by Mt. Blue High School; and “Haiku” by Foxcroft Academy.

Saturday, March 10, starting at 6:30 p.m.: “Ubu” by Madison Area Memorial School and “Bow Down” by Skowhegan Area High School.

Schools will present plays ranging from the classics to original student-written plays at the eight regional competitions across the State. Schools compete in two classes: Class A and Class B. State finals will be March 23 and 24.

At each competition, a panel of three judges will decide which performances advance to the state finals. The Class A finals will be held at Falmouth High School and Class B will be held at Yarmouth High School. The outstanding performance at each state final will be nominated by the judges to participate in the New England Drama Festival, April 26-28 in Guilford, N.H.
